Learning of Sandy's death has caused my tally of friends in my childhood neighborhood to change. Seeing her photo here has greatly assisted my memory of our ongoing joke about getting together at her parents' house with a plan to eat thin mint cookies until we were sickened. Then only a short while would pass and the mint cookie stock was replenished and ready for another sickening binge. We laughed all the while, knowing we were behaving in a way that could get our mothers (or fathers, I suppose) annoyed. And now I have another piece to my puzzle about what was available for fun when I was too young to stray unaccompanied out of the neighborhood. Again, another female friend who married & had a name change & I lost track of her. Look at this photo above. So much kindness still showed in her face. I can only guess that she was receiving chemo therapy at the time of this photo.
