Ernie passed away from a heart attack in his home. He is survived by his wife, Carol. brother, Rob; niece, Kim; great-niece, Cathie; great-great-niece, Ava; other relatives and friends.
Important to Ernie was love of his family, his faith, friends and his nursing career. He also had a great passion for fishing, boating, camping, cars and motorcycles

Among those attending the funeral were several 1972 Cooper High School graduates, including Mike Bakken, Robert Reinert, and Steve Ingalls.

Ernie was one of the kindest straight shooting friends I ever had.we are all getting older.thanks Ernie.

tribute by John PaverudErnie and I were close in high school. He was Tim Longley's best friend and Tim was my boyfriend so I got to spend lots of time with EJ. He taught me to drive a stick shift with such patience. I will always have a soft spot in my heart for Ernie.
